A beautiful sunny day at the beach with tolerable wind velocity.
Report Details
A beautiful sunny day at the beach with tolerable wind velocity. Lots of ATV folks were using the area, including several families with multiple vehicles and young children. No signs of concern were evident. The gulls present were occasionally flushed as ATVs passed by, but they resettled immediately. Shells, animal casings and a few dead mole crabs in driftline. Beach was level with some abrupt dropoffs. One dead dark phase Northern Fulmar. Moderate human impact (23)-2 walking, 5 sitting and the remainder in cars/trucks and ATV's in allowed area.

Notable Wildlife
Two groups of gulls were resting on the beach consisting of 79 and 74 mostly immature birds. Little wrack was present but a few mole crab casings were visible.

Total dead birds: 1. One dark phase Northern Fulmar was found high on the beach.

A few deceased mole crabs.

Actions & Comments
The beach was unremarkable except that it was well used by ATV folks based on count and previous tracks. Much of the beach area has smoothed out between low tide and the sea wall. Some abrupt drop-off areas were still evident.

It was a beautiful sunny, windless afternoon at the beach.

Thirty-seven humans were observed during the hour and one/half spent recording data on the 16 dead birds present(new birds included 9 Common Murre, 1 Northern Fulmar and 4 gulls and two birds were "refound" Common Murre).

Sharing the beach with other users is a pleasure when the vehicles, pets, and humans are under control and enjoying the same glorious weather.

The beach area appeared winter normal with wrack present high on the beach in places, and very thin, if any, surf line debris, mostly small wood and a few shells.
