Mile 121 Report
Gregory Point, Lighthouse Beach, Mussel Reef
August 31, 2016
It appears there is a lot of bluff erosion.
Report Details
It appears there is a lot of bluff erosion. Lots of slides, cracks, and slumping of bluff. Saw some pipes coming from bluff to beach, so there are efforts to divert water. Also saw a concrete structure at beach to fortify bluff (not new, probably been there a long time). Looks like there are efforts to shore up bluff. Several houses very close to sea bluff edge.
Conditions
Cloud Cover: Foggy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 1.0 feet.
Notable Wildlife
A flock of geese resting on the beach, probably at least 2 dozen
Driftline Content
Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces, Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea).
Natural Changes
Landslides/major boulder falls, Newly exposed roots/trees falling. Several slides/slumping of vegetated soil at cliff.
