The hike along the northern coastal part of Shore Acres State Park is quite beautiful, with more coastal vistas and fewer visitors than the southern part.  30-40 harbor seals were lounging on the rocks at the northern part of the Park, probably comprising a resident colony.

Number of people: 7. Number of dogs: 2. Walking or running: 5. Kayaking: 2. Fishing: 2. Other Activities: Two people were pedaling kayaks in a northerly direction along the shore, apparently fishing. The ocean was fairly calm, but this seemed like a risky activity.. Most visitors to Shore Acres State Park stay in the southern parts of the park, leaving Mile 119 less visited and more peaceful.

Apparent violations: A man was walking two dogs on leashes at the north end of the Park..

Notable Wildlife

Some 30-40 harbor seals were lounging on the rocks at Rock Reef, at the northern part of Mile 119. This is probably a resident colony. Surprisingly, a few had climbed some 30' up on one of the rocks. There were many gulls and cormorants and a few brown pelicans along the shore.
