Mile 117 Report
Cape Arago, Drake Point, North Cove
March 6, 2011
Not much activity.
Report Details
Not much activity. Also could not access the beach in the North Cove because it is closed for the pupping season. Saw plenty of Harbour Seals floating in the North Cove with only their heads above water. We did not see any on the beach or the close in rocks. The Sea Lions were all far out on Simpson's Reef. There were Harbour Seals out there too. From the cliffs we saw two (what looked like) ducks, but we could not determine the species, even with binoculars. A minimal amount of seaweed and the usual amount of wood on the beach. Two Black Oystercathers on the rocks. Five people on the trail.

Here’s how things went: As we clamber down into the North Cove, a magnificent Osprey rises from the water right under our noses.
