We visited this mile as part of the SOLV Beach Cleanup.
Report Details
We visited this mile as part of the SOLV Beach Cleanup. This section was not as clean as Mile 104. Modest amount of plastic bags and bottles were found (15 lbs) and removed mostly from high dunes below the beachgrass. Surf line was relatively free from non-natural debris. Kelp/algae, shells, animal casings, small rocks and wood in driftline. Numerous clear jellies (12" diam.), dead gull and small shorebird noted. Numerous gulls and Sanderlings on beach. About 12 people were out on a beautiful day, fishing (3) walking or beachcombing (5) or sitting (4). 2 dogs. One unleashed dog attacked an injured gull. 2 vehicles on allowed beach.
