Mile 10 Report
Rainbow Island, Lone Ranch Beach, Boardman SP
January 26, 2011
Beautiful sunny day at Lone Ranch Beach.
Report Details
Beautiful sunny day at Lone Ranch Beach. The driftline was thin and made up of small stones and algea/kelp. Although the beach was peaceful, the surf was rolling. Huge waves were crashing against the offshore rocks. Magnificent! Last week, two men fishing from rocks at Lone Ranch Beach, were washed into the ocean when a rogue wave took them by surprise. They survived, but one was in serious condition with facial and skull fractures. This is a warning to all who walk and use the beaches, especially in winter. The tide was an outgoing tide when it happened.

Actions & Comments
The Brookings Planning Commission has given final approval for the Borax development. This development is extensive and includes homes and a hotel among other things. Since this is right across Highway 101 from Lone Ranch Beach (Mile 10), I will keep watching for any changes to the beach as development progresses.
