Summary:

Beautiful low tide left a very wide and clean beach on a bright and cold afternoon. Not a lot of wildlife observed unfortunately. I saw one sea star with obvious wasting disease and will report it to MARINe's Sea Star Observation Log. Photo attached.

July 18, 2018 - Ostj
I walked at low tide and this was a very low tide. The beach was quite large. Not much activity except for close to Tolovana and the tidepools. I took many photos to upload. There were two artlike...

July 19, 2015 - historylover1
Beach lightly used even on a busy day on other adjacent beach. There was almost no garbage, almost no dead animals or seaweed. Overall a healthy beach.
May 10, 2015 - historylover1
The beach had a light amount of debris and a large number of dead Purple Sails or velella velella on the beach. Healthy, lightly used beach!

Beach looks relatively clear of litter and healthy at this time.
March 24, 2012 - historylover1
Quiet and generally clean. Main concern is an exposed tank that appears to be dripping oil in the dunes adjacent to the beach. From an old homesite.

There were around 55 people on mile 311. Seventeen of them were cycling. People had come to Tolovana Park Beach in unusually high numbers because of the warm weather, but the beach between Tolovana...

It was nice to have the beach practically to ourselves. The one dog we encountered was under perfect voice control. There was much less debris than we expected after the Big Storm. We will keep an eye...
September 19, 2007 - TomandGretel
all in all a pleasant day. Lots of sand washed up and built up all over. Very clean beach, as this was just several days after the SOLV cleanup. Wish it remained that way. Evidence of beachfires in...
  • natural vegetation has been mowed down, some of it has been 'shaped', and a hedge planted.
  • last year's attempt on placing rip rap looking even worse this year
July 5, 2007 - TomandGretel
actually, quite an improvement over previous 'day after the 4th.' the fireworks ban seems to be working, and the violations are more sporadic every year. Still lots of fireworks debris.
March 8, 2007 - TomandGretel
Will need to take a photo of a riprap structure gone bad. Ocean washed out sand placed between riprap, and some kind of netting to hold plants.Very ugly to look at. Will get address and photos.
