Summary:
The mile was very rocky this day. There was a small area at the far southern end that had a lot of sea plastic, small plastic pellets and styrofoam.Rock hunters were carrying out lots of bags filled with agates and several people were climbing onto the rock walls and digging (with picks and shovels that they'd obviously brought along for this purpose) into the wall.

2020

August 4, 2020 - EJD
I walked this mile today and just wanted to note the abundance of newborn sea stars inside Lost Boy Cave and the surrounding tide water. I have just never seen them this small before in the wild!
May 15, 2020 - [email protected]
Beach quite clean despite being popular. No porta-potty as usual; I anticipate human sanitation issues. Staircase in poor shape, and missing handrails have been draped in yellow danger tape.

2019

May 26, 2019 - [email protected]
Increase in human activity, new path along bottom of cliff. Need for bathroom facility.

2018

August 18, 2018 - [email protected]
Staircase handrails deteriorating. Driftwood bridge across creek. Gravel on beach has flattened out since last visit. More dirt coming down cliff at north end. No litter.

2017

July 9, 2017 - [email protected]
Increased human and dog activity at this beach, which has no bathroom facility at the trailhead or on the beach. Common Murre seen on beach at north end.

Beautiful day. Beach very clean overall. Recent rain and snow have resulted in very full waterfalls. One small tree has slid down the hill in front of the house that has some long-standing drainage...

2016

May 13, 2016 - [email protected]
This was our first official visit to this mile. Last winter's storms left a veritable cliff of rocks, topped by large logs, close to the bluff. We found a small amoint of litter including a plastic...

September 12, 2009 - nicgartland
The weather was nice, though cloudy but the tides were pretty high throughout the day so parts of the mile were inaccessible. Visitors were friendly and the ones I saw were all being very tidy with...
  • Lots of rocks and a high tide day
June 28, 2009 - nicgartland
The mile was in really nice shape on this particular trip. There was a bit of sea plastic washed up on the southern edge of it, but otherwise the area was clean of litter. The tides were very low...
