Report Details

It was a warm sunny day with a light 5 mph NW breeze and a 2.45 low tide @ 3:15pm.Approximately 70 people and 10 dogs  were enjoying the beach. They were beach combing, flying kites and having a good time.Shoreline wildlife was un remarkable with the usual driftline creatures but nothing noteworthy.This was our 2nd trip to mile 253 but our first as official coastwatchers.  We took several reference photos that we will use for reference  when we return for the November King Tides.

Temperature: 58 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 2.5 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 70. Number of dogs: 10. Walking or running: 50. Playing in surf: 1. Playing in sand: 6. Sitting: 10. Other Activities: kite flying,. People enjoying the beach in appropriate ways.

Vehicles

Cars/trucks parking: 30. RVs/Buses parking: 2.

Notable Wildlife

western gulls and crows on the beach.

Beached Birds

Total dead birds: 1.

Driftline Content

Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces. There was one 4 x 8 sheet of plywood on the beach near Proposal Rock. Other than that, there was minimal driftline content, and no other human caused debris
