Mile 182 Report
Roosevelt Beach, Ponsler SW, China Creek, Big Creek
February 10, 2013
My apologies for posting this a month late!
Report Details
My apologies for posting this a month late! There were quite a few people on the beach Feb 10. It was reasonably warm, and much warmer than inland. Was interesting to note the amount of erosion where the steps had been carved into the bluff. Between the steps and the reduction in foliage created by the camp spot above the bluff, run off found a weak spot and created quite a channel. Very little indication of the carved steps remained.
Conditions
Temperature: 48 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: N. Tide Level: 4.0 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 11. Number of dogs: 2. Walking or running: 3. more litter than we usually see on the beach, much of it fresh, which makes me think it may have washed out of campgrounds up stream during recent rain storms.
Concerns
Litter
Vehicles
Notable Wildlife
this area continues to be notable for it's lack of wildlife. We are not even seeing the scalps that we see regularly on other beaches in the area.
Beached Birds

Driftline Content
Shells, Styrofoam, Wood pieces. plastic drink bottles, plastic bags
Man-made Modifications
steps carved into bluff sand noted in October created a weakened area in the bluff and erosion has accelerated
Natural Changes
Visible retreat of solid bluff.
