The beach was mostly deserted and there were few birds.  We saw one seal peeking over the whitecaps at us.

Temperature: 65 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: 5.0 feet.

Number of people: 4. Number of dogs: 1. Walking or running: 4. Fishing: 1. We walked on the beach by ourselves (2 of us and one dog). The other people we saw came over the dune, looked at the water and left, except for the surf fisherman.

Disturbances: Shorebirds moving in response to humans/dogs

Driftline Content

Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces, Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.). we saw almost no garbage, which makes me think most of it is buried under the sand, for now. This mile usually has lots of plastic garbage.

Natural Changes

Erosion of vegetated foredune.

10 people on beach, including 5 birdwatchers, 2 dogs (one of which was off leash), people walking with off leash dog allowed dog to chase gulls and were pushing a flock of sandlerings down the beach in front of them.
