Mile 102 Report
Coquille River, South Jetty, Lighthouse
January 2, 2013
Cold, clear and calm were the passwords today on the half-mile stretch of 102 north of the Coquille River.
Report Details
Cold, clear and calm were the passwords today on the half-mile stretch of 102 north of the Coquille River. Much driftwood is piled deeply up the beach still, making it hard to reach the sand at the start. A few driftwood structures line the storm-tide area. One dead Harbor Seal came in with the night's high tide, minus most of its head. Otherwise, wildlife was scant, apart from a few gulls and a Sanderling or two. Only two other people were on the beach, with a dog, and they stayed only a few minutes for the dog to do its business. I've seen them do this before. They park in one of the two pullouts.
