Report Details

A bald eagle in the wet sand on the northern half of Mile 102 was an unusual sight this cloudy, cool and moderately windy morning at 5:30 a.m. Usually it's only gulls and crows to report. The eagle and the sand blown over much of the piles of driftwood brought in by the winter storms were the highlight of my walk. If there was litter, it had blown away. Kelp, shell fragments and small stones marked the tide lines. No one else was out.On the southern half, 4 people, 1 dog and 4 parked vehicles made for a relatively crowded outing. Kelp, shell fragments and small stones also appeared. Spotted one clear but dead jelly. Gulls and crows gathered for breakfast. Tide was -0.4 feet for the northern part and -1.4 for the southern segment.
