CoastWatch
The Dispatch form is intended for occasions on which you have not carefully observed a full CoastWatch mile, but have observed something worth reporting; it is a means of quickly documenting matters of interest, ideally accompanied by photographs. A Dispatch might be a report on a portion of the mile, if you didn't cover the entire length, or it might focus just on one observation of note — a wash-up of birds or other animals, violations of beach regulations, an accumulation of litter, a stranded marine mammal, to cite some examples--whether on your own CoastWatch mile or elsewhere on the coast. If you observe a stranded marine mammal, after submitting your Dispatch, please file a separate Stranded Marine Mammal report, with photos if possible.
