A very wintery, blustery day on the spit - few people out braving the less than ideal conditions at the beach.

A couple issues of concern noted during this visit:1) Incursion on foredune and development of area adjoining foredune at midpoint of mile; and2) Evidence of vehicle driving on beach in closed area.

SOLV beach clean up day - started out rainy, but the skies cleared by 11am, the sun came out, and conditions were ideal the remainder of the day.

Beautiful start to President's Day weekend - while fairly windy, it was sunny and relatively warm.

The large numbers of fresh trees and new driftwood logs high on the beach were no doubt a result of the recent heavy rains and flooding in the coast range.
