an amazing number of people for this time of year, even Spring Break.the amount of trash is discouraging, it seems that the SOLV cleanup efforts have already been wiped out. there are still many dogs running lose, and not under voice control. They cause trouble with others who have theirs leashed, and have led to some confrontations.

Notable Wildlife

lots of gulls, and they seem to be more and more 'hybrids', i.e. mixes of Western Gulls, Herrmans , Glaucous etc.

Seaweeds and seagrass, Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.), Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea), Small rocks, Styrofoam, Wood pieces. pretty messy, but it had been stormy, so no surprise

we are still monitoring the Ecola Outfall water quality situation. We are getting reports from Surfrider, and Jennifer Ketterman. there was one spike of 3448 on the 30th.it seems that the city is finally doing some serious testing and trying to find the source.but in the meantime, we still haven't been able to get them to post a sign that indicates contaminated water and advises people to avoid contact. We are working on it.
