Notable Wildlife

black oyster catchers. (Have you ever seen one that wasn't black?)

Stranded Marine Mammals

Total stranded mammals: 2. Sea lions. (They have ears.) Light brown color (both). Larger one was dead. About 72in. long (nose to tips of extended tail fins). No signs of trauma. The smaller one was still alive, but barely. No signs of trauma. Eyes open but could move it's head only very slightly. Smaller one was about half the bulk of the larger one.The larger one is about 0.6 mi. S. of Otter Point. The smaller about 200 yds S. of Otter Point.The smaller one was not on the beach yesterday. The larger (dead)one has been on the beach for about a week. (I forgot to report it last week.)
