Report Details

We walked the southern half of the mile in the morning, and the northern half in the afternoon. We were able to cover most of the mile north of Oceanside as the tide was low. About 3/4 of the dogs we saw were not on leash. However, they were well behaved and under voice command. We saw no shorebirds. We did find one oystercatcher on an offshore rock, 3 pelagic cormorants in the water, a few Western gulls along the beach, and one hermit thrush as well as 3-4 juncos in the berry bushes by the Oceanside entrance to the beach. The dead Western Grebe, and one dead gull species remain in same location and are likely the same birds as in the 11/03/13 report. We removed a large amount of fishing line with a hook that was caught on one of the large tidepool rocks north of Maxwell point. The beach was cleaner than usual, with fewer bottles and no styrofoam.
