large and small debris from mile 275 -279 Cape Lookout North Spit. Fishing and crabbing and smaller plastic waste towards the northern tip of the spit.

I did pick up a few large items during my bike ride but I was not fully prepared as it was just initially a bike ride


I observed Large and small debris mostly from crabbing spread from mile 275 - 279

One small State Park vehicle traveling north on the beach .Picked up styrofoam and several light blue plastic bags. Lots of dune erosion falling and sliding off of the crest of the dune. 
  • Sloughing off of patches of dune grass
  • I recall this tree standing up last fall!

Cleaned off beach -- not much beach due to sand migration I would guess.  Super quiet

I have been down on my mile every day for a weekthe numbers of people weddingsdead birdsrambling dogs occupied beach chairs has been never seen before by meIve walked that beach since 1978
  • note the weekend was very smokey

The park has placed a new coating of round river rocks carefully done with a new path to the beach from the camp ground in gravel with a more cautious grade. As I recall these round rocks cover up...

The only unusual thing was the evidence of recent erosion and evidence of surf making it over the bluff onto the campgrounds roads.

In general the dune is being undermined. A tree and shrubs have fallen on to the beach. There was a dead deer on the beach also. -- I think it fell off the bluff. The sand on the beach is washed away...
