More cars parked at the end of Pollock Ave. than ever before and  more people on the beach than previous years.

Temperature: 74 F. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 5.0 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 67. Number of dogs: 4. Walking or running: 13. Playing in surf: 7. Playing in sand: 6. Sitting: 41. The biggest crowds I have seen on this beach in the past 20 years.

Concerns

Fire, Litter

Apparent violations: On 7/13 there was a group of campers with large open fire about 100 yards from the beach amongst the shore pines. The fire department was called and the fire was extinguished. There have also been beach fires recently very close to the beach grass. There was also a large metal tent frame abandoned on the beach near the end of Pollock St. Not sure if the owners planned on picking it up at some point..

Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces, Land-based debris (picnics, etc.).

New Development

Three new home sites being developed on beachfront between Pollock and Roma Ave.
