Mile 212 - Holiday Beach north, Moore Creek, Grant Creek - December 25, 2020

Report Details

Quiet day on the beach, Christmas and a rain/wind storm approaching. Lots of sand has mooved off the beach and several rock fields have emerged. A number of small slumps have occured and evidence of waves washing up the bluffs several feet in some areas. One new house appears to have been completed (the third for this year). No birds were out at all.

Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Rain. Wind Velocity: Strong. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: 1.5 feet.

Driftline Content

Wood pieces. Mostly logs and large wood pieces washed out of creeks due to rain, big surf and high tides.

Natural Changes

Landslides/major boulder falls. Several small slumps along this stretch and one larger one that occurred last august just south of Grant Creek.

A new house is being built just south of Grant Creek near an unstable portion of the bluff (picture attached). A new railing installed along a section of riprap (picture attached). A large rock field is exposed along this section (picture attached). Several small slide/slough areas apparent associated with the rains earlier in the month.
