Migrating shorebirds feeding in flocks of up to 200, predominately Western Sandpiper with some Semi-Palmated Plover and Sanderlings. One dead bird on beach with many feathers in driftline. Very little plastic in drifline - much less than usual.

Temperature: 62 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: N. Tide Level: 7.2 feet.

Notable Wildlife

Migrating shorebirds feeding along shore and in wet tidal areas. Mixed flocks of up to 200 birds - predominately Western Sandpiper, with some Semi-Palmated Plover and Sanderlings. Watched Peregrine Falcon make several passes at shorebird blocks bunched up offshore and taking evasive action - no observed kills.

Beached Birds

Total dead birds: 1. DeaD bird probably Common Murre. Many feathers on the beach in driflines.

Driftline Content

Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Shells, Small rocks, Wood pieces. Very little plastic in driftlines.

Took the missus out for a trial walk with her new walking sticks, initially heading north into the wind from Driftwood Shores Resort up to Sutton Creek and return with a nice tailwind.
