Oregon’s Coast Uncovered Part 2: Coastal Geomorphology and Oceanography of Oregon
Originally recorded November 11, 2024
Join Ed Joyce, an Oregon Shores board member with a Ph.D. in Oceanography and a B.S. in Geology, for a three-part webinar series exploring the unique geological and oceanographic characteristics of Oregon’s coast. With over a decade of teaching experience and years of involvement with Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition, Ed will offer engaging and informative presentations on the region’s complex geological history, dynamic coastal processes, and the critical role of the Columbia River Estuary. This series will provide valuable insights into the natural forces shaping the coast, human impacts on these ecosystems, and ongoing conservation efforts.
- Part 1 An Introduction to Oregon Coastal Geology and Plate Tectonics (recording)
- Part 2: Coastal Geomorphology and Oceanography of Oregon: Join Ed Joyce as he delves into the dynamic interactions between Oregon’s coastal features and oceanographic forces. This talk will focus on beach geomorphology, sediment transport, stabilization efforts, and the role of offshore wind technology in shaping the coast.
