Join Ed Joyce, an Oregon Shores board member with a Ph.D. in Oceanography and a B.S. in Geology, for a three-part webinar series exploring the unique geological and oceanographic characteristics of Oregon’s coast. With over a decade of teaching experience and years of involvement with Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition, Ed will offer engaging and informative presentations on the region’s complex geological history, dynamic coastal processes, and the critical role of the Columbia River Estuary. This series will provide valuable insights into the natural forces shaping the coast, human impacts on these ecosystems, and ongoing conservation efforts. While we recommend joining us for all three, we understand that may not be possible for everyone’s schedule. Everyone who registers below will receive invitations to attend the webinars and recordings if you cannot join live.

  • Part 1 – An Introduction to Oregon Coastal Geology and Plate Tectonics
In this session, Ed Joyce will explore the geological foundations of the Oregon coast. The talk will cover plate tectonics, significant tectonic events that have shaped the coastline, and how these processes continue to impact the region.
