This Oregon Beaches Forever webinar will provide an overview of the Coastal Hazards Program under Oregon Sea Grant and Oregon State University Extension Service. Felicia Olmeta Schult, the Extension Coastal Hazards Specialist, will present on ongoing projects aiming to increase Oregon residents and visitors’ understanding of and preparedness to natural coastal hazards such as erosion, flooding, landslides, tsunamis and earthquakes.

Our guest, Felicia Olmeta Schult is an Assistant Professor of Practice and the Oregon Sea Grant Extension Coastal Hazards Specialist. She works with community partners to increase the resilience of Oregon coastal communities to the impacts of climate change and coastal natural hazards. She created the Oregon Coastal Hazards Ready (OCHR) Library & Mapper OCHR listserv where she shares monthly the Pacific Northwest Coastal Hazards Resources Newsletter (learn more here). She is also the Coastal Community Lead for the NSF-funded Cascadia Coastlines & Peoples Hazards Research Hub (Cascadia CoPes Hub) Team 3. Felicia has a B.S. in Oceanography from Hawaii Pacific University, a M.A. in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island, and a Ph.D. in Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences from Washington State University. She is originally from Corsica, a small French island in the Mediterranean Sea.
