  • CoastWatch Mile Adoption

    The CoastWatch program is the original volunteer opportunity with Oregon Shores. Since 1993, CoastWatch volunteers have walked mile-long segments of the Oregon shoreline, submitting observations to our website.

    • Location: Available miles in all coastal counties
  • Community Science

    Volunteers play an important role in community science, collecting valuable information for scientific research that leads to real change. Our partners include NOAA, COASST, Oregon State University, DLCD, and more.

    • Location: Available projects in all coastal counties
  • Estuaries and Oceans Campaign

    Help is needed with public engagement in estuary management plan update processes. Table, disseminate information, text-bank, aid in comment-writing, and be an ambassador for the Campaign. 

    • Location: Coos and Lincoln counties
  • Land Use Scouts and Volunteers

    Land use scouts needed! Volunteers track their local city or county government to note and report to Oregon Shores on upcoming land use or regulatory concerns.

    • Location: all Oregon counties
  • Oregon Beaches Forever

    Help organize educational events, advocate within city or county land use processes, and lobby for new state legislation.

  • Youth Education

    Join classrooms/student groups on the beach or in the classroom. Help students complete CoastWatch reports, assist with community science data collection and lead education stations.

    • Location: Available events in all coastal counties
  • Outreach and Media

    Blog or write articles, join our table at outreach events, or take photographs and videos. 

    • Location: Coastwide and remote
  • Administration/Fundraising

    Assist with fundraising initiatives. Stuff, stamp, hand-address, and mail donation envelopes.

    • Location: Portland
