Do you care about the Coos estuary? 

Are you interested in local government and conservation? 

Do you want to make an impact in your community?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, you might be a good candidate for a position on the Coos estuary Citizen Advisory Committee and/or Technical Advisory Committee. 

What? 

These formal committees were developed by Coos county and the cities of North Bend and Coos Bay in an effort to expand opportunities for community involvement in the upcoming update of the Coos Bay Estuary Management Plan. Committee members will also be consulted by the local governments if any other major plan amendment is proposed. 

This committee will also be commenting on the Port of Coos Bay’s proposed navigation channel expansion.

The county is looking to include business owners, environmentalists, fishermen, economists, marine biologists, water quality specialists, historians, etc. (i.e. anyone with a stake in the health of the estuary). Interested folks can apply to any and all seats they might qualify for on one or both committees.

When?

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and final members will be appointed by the County commissioners sometime this fall. Committees are anticipated to meet no more than once a month for two hours.
