This was my first time on my mile in quite a while. It looked in good shape, with lots of sand and a gently sloping foredune that did not show any signs of recent erosion. I observed one vehicle and a few people as well as tracks of vehicles, dogs,...read more

There was lots of human activity on this sunny, warm weekend day: Relaxing, walking, playing in the sand, and riding horses. The beach has accumulated lots of sand during the winter, but the surfline shows evidence of rip currents. The beach was very clean--probably because of its steepness and recent...

The beach was busy on this nice, sunny, Sunday afternoon--one of the few sunny days this year. Most of the mile fronts Bob Straub State Park. Activities noted were dog-walking, strolling, playing in the sand, kite flying, playing in the surf, and picnicking. The beach was more narrow than usual...

We found the beach to look very normal for this time of year despite the strong storm that occurred a week earlier. There is nothing unusual to report.

The survey was done on Fathers Day. So, our mile being at Bob Straub State Park, the number of people was much larger (42) than normal. The beach and foredune were pretty clean and unremarkable. Sand was building up on the beach as it normally does in the summer.

In a brief, second-visit to our mile this quarter, we saw that the steep drop-off from the foredune to the wet sand beach in late January is still present. The Bob Straub SP restroom that had heavy graffiti on it in late January now has a fresh coat of paint.

Mother Nature has created a steep bank from the west side of the foredune down to the wet sand beach along much of the mile. The restroom at Bob Straub State Park was heavily tagged with graffiti.
