February 4, 2022 - GasiorowskiM

The Siuslaw River north and south jetty areas are generally clean and in good shape.  Many people recreate in these areas, even on an overcast weekday such as February 4.  The appropriate authorities should perhaps monitor the south jetty area more closely for people using chainsaws to cut driftwood more

Unusual afternoon on Heceta Beach today - dead calm winds, surf almost non-existant.  Not often you can walk this beach in mid-November without a jacklet!

A deceased yearling-sized seal has washed ashore about 1/4 mile south of the Driftwood Shores Resort.  Heavily damaged by scavengers, most of the softer head more

I've seen a major deterioration of the north jetty. Whereas in 2001 small rocks would be moved during severe storms,I'm now seeing 20-40 ton rocks breaking up after just a hi-tide. Also untill the rip-rap project was seeing sea anenomies way up river form where they were in 2001. more
