  • Motor vehicle travel is prohibited from south jetty at Coos Bay, (43° 21.1158', Mile 123) southerly to Fivemile Point (43° 13.2228', Mile 109), except as follows: (A) Motor vehicles are allowed at any time on the ocean shore at the south jetty of Coos Bay (43° 21.0990', Mile 123), southerly to (43° 21.0036', 124° 20.4822', Mile 123); (B) Motor vehicles are allowed at any time on the ocean shore at the north end of the Sunset Bay State Park (43° 20.0880', Mile 120) for the purpose of boat launching.

Major increase in sand covering many landmarks and up to 5' gain. Much sand blown up side of cliff.Significant rearrangement of driftwood on south portion mile 112. Part-time residents and summer visitors commented on paucity of debris last and this year.read more

A mild, unremarkable day on Agate and Sacchi beaches. Kelp/algae, small rocks, wood pieces, plastic pellets, plastic confetti, land-based debris and Styrofoam blown high into the driftwood. There has been a replenishment of sand and driftwood which had been decreased during December to March. No significant debris on the beach except small plastic pieces. No people on the beach.read more
  • In March, we had 15 plus inches of rain plus 6 inches of heavy snow.  This erosion occurred as the result of heavy runoff from these storms.  The water came off the hillside and down a roadway.
  • Prior to the winter storms the driftwood here was tightly packed and mostly covered with sand.

Two people and a dog were walking along the water's edge. There were 3 parallel lines of small plastic fragments at what may have been the high tide line. 13 plastic bottles and styrofoam were removed. One week prior a neighbor had picked up two 35 gallon bags of bottles and other plastic.read more

  • These were some of the beach debris on Mile 112.
  • This dead male California Sea Lion was found on the south part of Sacchi Beach in the rocks.
  • Here's another photo of the dead Califonia Sea Lion.  The animal is on it's back.  The holes are where scavengers (probably Turkey Vultures and gulls) have pecked at the carcass.
