Report Details

Odd large pieces of trash near Battle Rock. Lots of bottle caps in wrack line. Many small pieces of plastic in the wrack line near Hubbard Creek. I remember my mom showing me an aluminum railing from a shipwreck sticking out of the rocks on this beach years ago when the sand was low. Today I saw two pieces of aluminum pipe on the rocks in the same area.

Notable Wildlife

I think I saw a couple of turkey vultures that flew up from the brush next to a small stream but I didn't see what they might have been feeding on.

Driftline Content

There were no plastic bottles, which was unusual, but there were many bottle lids. I didn't count, but I picked up maybe 25 of them. All different sizes from an inch to the inches in diameter. There were a lot of small plastic pieces near Hubbard Creek. Large trash included a truck canopy and an iron woodstove near Battle Rock.

Natural Changes

Landslides/major boulder falls. A little more sliding on the site of the big landslide from a couple years ago.

I was astounded by the mass of humans on the beach, so I thought I'd report it. Port Orford made plans for beach cleanups of both the dock beach and the Battle Rock beach for July 5th.
