Survey with 5 observers found many people enjoying the beach either in their cars or walking on the beach. There was a smoldering fire of burning romance novels found and 50lbs of trash collected from the beach during the survey. 1 beached bird was found but not identified.

Temperature: 60 F. Cloud Cover: Partly Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light.
Activities
Number of people: 35. Number of dogs: 2.
Other Activities: playing in sand, laying in surf. smoldering pile of romance novels found, about 50lbs of trash were collected plus extra wood and large plastic..

Cars/trucks on beach, allowed: 19.
Wrackline Content
Lots of land based debris as well, the wrack line was mostly jellies with many blown into wood debris.
Man-made Modifications
Due to the time constraint could not do the Northern portion of the survey.

I am writing this dispatch report for Coast Watch mile 330, Sunset Beach to document notable avifauna I observed during spring migration, which include 12 Ruddy Turnstone, 7 Black Turnstone, 3 Black-bellied Plovers along with Whimbrel, Semipalmated Plover, Western Sandpiper, and Dunlin. Also noted on the beach feeding on a dead seal carcass was a juvenile bald eagle (see photo below).

An early morning walk on mile 330 with overcast skies, rain, and moderate wind revealed few humans (mainly people clamming at the low tide) yet significant marine debris along the wrack line.
