Beautiful day on the north side of the Necanicum Inlet.

Beautiful day on the north side of the Necanicum Inlet. 24 Western Snowy Plovers with two showing signs of breeding plumage and two with bands. 19 dogs. Owners seemed interested in learning about the plover zone and moving to wet sand in that area. Reported plover activity to BAO. Collected one large bag of marine debris.
Conditions
Temperature: 37 F. Cloud Cover: Partly Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Tide Level: 4 feet.
Activities
Number of people: 10. Number of dogs: 19.
Other Activities: Counted humans half way through the survey time for better line of sight. Lots of people enjoying the good weather. Almost twice as many dogs as people. Dog owners were responsive and moved to the wet sand when we pointed out the plovers. .
Concerns
Disturbances: Shorebirds moving in response to humans/dogs
Notable Wildlife
24 Western Snowy Plovers on the high wrack line. Two males in partial breeding plumage. Almost all dogs off leash. One dog observed chasing plovers. Folks were responsive, walking dogs in the wet sand by the inlet when we let them know about the plovers.

Unusually warm weather with temperatures in the low 70's made for a pleasant afternoon walk on mile 325.
