Report Details

Overall the beach appeared very clean and well taken care of especially after a holiday that is known for leftover trash and litter on beaches. With that being said there was still a lot of leftover firework debris which is not good given the legality of fireworks on Oregon beaches. The wrack line contained many washed up Moon Jellyfish of all sizes along the entire mile, as well as many sand dollar remnants. I also observed the remnants of a landslide on the southern part of the mile. While I'm not sure if this is new or old it seemed important to note. Other than that there were no major shoreline modifications or natural changes of note.

Conditions

Temperature: 75 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Tide Level: 2.6 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 140. Number of dogs: 15. Walking or running: 48. Sitting: 84. Surfing: 6. Kayaking: 2.

Concerns

Apparent violations: Much of the trash collected was remnants of fireworks after the Fourth of July that of which are illegal on the Oregon Coast..

Notable Wildlife

There was a flock of about eight Western Gulls on the beach.

Dead Fish or Invertebrates

There were many washed up Moon Jellyfish along the whole mile of the beach. I also observed a couple of Comb Jellyfish along the shoreline.

Driftline Content

There were many crab shells seen in the wrack line along the whole beach.

Natural Changes

Landslides/major boulder falls.
