While kayaking out to Falcon Rock observed two marbled murrelets and two porpoises.

While kayaking out to Falcon Rock observed two marbled murrelets and two porpoises. Completed eBird report. Number of people tripled on the beach from 97 to approximately 300 by 1 pm. Two State Park Rangers were doing an excellent job managing the three overcrowded parking lots and beachgoers were enjoying the spectacular weather on the trail through the old growth and on the beach.

Temperature: 41 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 7 feet.

Number of people: 96. Number of dogs: 7.
Other Activities: At initial snapshot there were 96 people, but by the time I left there were over 300 on Short Beach alone..

There were two interesting things at Short Sand today. The second interesting thing were small bits of torn foam, like from a seat cushion, on the north end of the beach at the highest wrack line.

This morning CoastWatch hosted an educational walk with Stewart Schultz - 18 people were a part of the walk, but others joined as the session went on (for about 3 hours).
