It was a cloudy day with a slight breeze from the northwest. The beach sloped sharply to the waterline. Some of the medium sized wood was showing up high but most was covered by sand. Gulls were busy feeding close to shore, with a couple of sea lions joining them. No other organisms were seen. The only carcasses were two Sooty Shearwaters plus another that was too badly decomposed to identify. 6 people and 1 dog were strolling the beach. The most notable find was a large number of varied sized chunks of Styrofoam (some white, some blue), too many for us to clean up. There were no identifying marks on any of the pieces.

A nice bright day with a large group of birders from 30 cars looking for Snowy Plovers when I started but only 13 people walking or sitting on the beach on my way back.
