Another glorious day in Rockaway! As noted in previous reports, significant accumulations of eelgrass and jellyfish were found. Photos attached.
Conditions
Temperature: 64 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 3.31 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 56. Number of dogs: 7. Walking or running: 27. Sitting: 23. Tidepooling: 6.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Counted 22 nearly whole moon, jelly and other transparent jellyfish. In addition, there were hundreds of pieces of jellyfish from one to 6 inches in length. Counted 3 lion’s mane nearly whole, plus dozens of pieces 1-7 inches. 1 Skate egg case, still intact. Thrown back into the ocean. 1 small Starfish 1 Large barnacle with sponge Photos attached I’m going to file a dispatch concerning the eelgrass accumulation

Seemingly millions of Velella vellella washed up on the beach with the prevailing wind out of the north west.
