Report Details

This dispatch covers two days, 3/21 and 3/22 and parts of both mile 290 and mile 291. After a storm, I observed excessive marine, fishing and beach debris, including a large rubber boot encrusted in small barnacles with a small crab, living inside, a cedar barrel planter, and a double seat outdoor bench. See pictures of these and of other debris, as well as massive accumulation of Velella Velella, logs, branches, and small sticks.

Unusual concentration. Millions of VelellaVelella washed onshore. Both clear and blue . See pictures.

Wrackline Content

Excessive accumulation of debris on the beach from multiple sources, after a storm several days prior. Some appears to be residential garbage perhaps from a gyre. A toothbrush, a toothpick, cold meds, a yoga mat, a resin dumbbell, a large cottage cheese, container, coffee, carafe, glass, and plastic bottles, a comb, a hand soap dispenser, and a large plaster lamp.

Natural Changes

Evidence of wave overtopping. Wave overtopping apprentice in multiple places on bluffs and down paths.
