Another fabulous winter day on mile 290. I have never observed so many pyrosomes on the beach before. They were from 1 inch up to 7 or 8 inches in length, colors of purple, pink, green and brown. Lovely sunset today also! Winters on the Oregon Coast can be brutal, but also amazing.

Conditions

Temperature: 47 F. Cloud Cover: Partly Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate.

Human Activities

Number of people: 5. Number of dogs: 4. Walking or running: 4. Other Activities: Observed five cars on the jetty two with several people inside them. Several empty.. People walking, several with dogs. One person was throwing sticks for his two dogs.

Notable Wildlife

Small flock of five snowy plover at the tide line hunting for food. Photo attached.

Dead Fish or Invertebrates

Unusual concentration. Hundreds of dead pyrosomes at the wrack line. All along the mile. These were also observed the previous day, recently washed up on the wet sand. Photo attached. 4 dead Sea Nettles on the wet sand. No photo
