It was a perfect late summer day with temperatures in the 70's. The dunes continue to grow westward as sand builds at the end of the spit. On the bay side, ODF crews have cut brush and trees along the access road. They did it to keep vehicle access to the south jetty open and to provide wider fire breaks.

Temperature: 75 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 4.0 feet.

Notable Wildlife
Very few birds today. During most of the late summer the spit had 100's, maybe 1000's of birds feeding on nearby bait fish. Included were many brown pelicans.

Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Shells, Small rocks, Wood pieces. lots of sea grass but very little plastic and styrofoam

I saw so many different types of birds along the jetty, I'm no bird expert but I thought I saw pelicans, herons, cormorants, and sea gulls.
