Beautiful Sunday post-Thanksgiving.
Report Details
Beautiful Sunday post-Thanksgiving. Washed up very deceased and putrid seal - photographed and position documented. Beach scoured by recent storm activity. King tides due later this coming week. The "Octopus tree" has floated north and is now level with the Mile 29 beach marker sign (see photos.) Root and trunk end position documented. Trunk now pointing WNW.
Conditions
Temperature: 49 F. Cloud Cover: Partly Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 4.5 feet.
Activities
Number of people: 9. Number of dogs: 2.
Other Activities: Walkers. Dogs off leash but close to owners..
Notable Wildlife
Several small flocks sanderlings feeding at high tide line. Groups of 5 to 20 along the mile.
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 2. Gull (see photo) well decomposed recognizable by beak Unknown second bird (see photo) but distinctive banded brown feathers on wing (Likely identifiable by someone!)
Stranded Marine Mammals
Total stranded mammals: 1. Seal> decomposing 45.52827 N 123.95365 W
Wrackline Content
Small clumps old eel grass (no significant deposits likely due to high tides and SW storm during week). A couple nests Bull Kelp but more single strands. Jelly fish Lions Mane small scattered

A windy and cloudy day with storms threatening Very little human activity and birds were few , likely sheltering The small "dune" formation around the roots of the Sea Rocket persisted in spite of high tides and storms

A partially cloudy day once the marine layer lifted. Excited to see large flock of sanderlings feeding at high tide line then putting on an aerial show for me Noticing early "dune" formation around roots of sea rocket
