Beautiful early fall Oregon coast day. No dogs on my stretch today. Copious amounts eel grass in clumps (see photos) especially at north end of beach Subjectively more "sea rocket" at dune line Large flock sanderlings (>50) dancing between seas edge and high tide line 2 pelicans

Conditions

Temperature: 61 F. Cloud Cover: Partly Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Tide Level: 6.1 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 9. Walking or running: 5. Sitting: 4. Other Activities: No dogs today which is unusual. Everyone walking and one family paddling with 2 children playing in the water at shore edge.

Concerns

Apparent violations: n/a.

Notable Wildlife

large flock of sanderlings >50 swooping from high tide line to waters edge. Smaller group seen further down foraging at water edge 2 pelicans 2 gulls feeding

Beached Birds

Total dead birds: 1. Gull entangled in eel grass (I assume post mortem)

Driftline Content

Many moon jellyfish 6" -18 " diameter all t high tide line Probable Lions Mane and fragments of brown jelly fish

Natural Changes

Subjectively a lot more "sea rocket" at edge between dune line and shore. Will take more photos moving forward to document more accurately

A windy and cloudy day with storms threatening Very little human activity and birds were few , likely sheltering The small "dune" formation around the roots of the Sea Rocket persisted in spite of high tides and storms

King tides 2 weeks ago Big storm with high winds S. Noted today that the sea rocket clumps are now dead but their roots are holding the sand in front of the dune line creating small mounds Fierce tidal movement around large pieces of driftwood have created channels (see photo)

Beautiful walk today on an all but deserted Oregon beach. Eels grass still present but again smaller amounts than over the summer months. Recently deceased seal washed up close to high tide line
