Concerns
Fire
Apparent violations: I've noticed over the past few months a semi-permanent fire pit in violation of the following shoreline regulations: - located in open, dry sand well away (at least 25 ft.) from any vegetation, driftwood, other combustible materials or beach access points - not located in dunes or in or near (or downwind of) vegetation, small wood debris or log accumulations - not left unattended The house is occupied by renters and on one occasion I've talked with the occupants who were unaware of Oregon Shoreline regulations. Unfortunately, this fire pit is left as-is and new renters have continued to build fires and at times leave them unattended or not put them out fully. During dry periods the proximity to beach grass makes this a potentially dangerous situation. The house is at the very west end of Pollock Ave. 5605 Pollock. A photo is attached..Driftline Content
Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces.
Actions & Comments
I have spoken to renters using the firepit, but am unsure how to proceed with the owners who should be responsible for the activity of their renters.
