Report Details

Nestucca fire department training vehicles.

Conditions

Temperature: 51 F. Cloud Cover: Partly Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 7.0 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 4. Number of dogs: 2. Other Activities: throwing balls for dogs. On my report last quarter, there was a car commercial going on here... a first since I've been coming to this beach. This time, there was a fire department training going on, according to the big red sign in the parking area. However, I saw only fire vehicles, no people. Another "FIRE TRAINING BEHIND THIS SIGN" was posted at the foot of the dune at the south end of this beach, with two fire vehicles parked there but no people in sight. I presume the training was taking place up the dune, perhaps training to rescue people who fall off the dune into the ocean or into the sink holes that have developed. But I neither saw nor heard any evidence. Other than the apparent but invisible fire training, there was not much happening: few people and few birds. Cloudy at first but the sun came out and the ocean receded from its morning high of 7.8 or so. No wind. Lovely day on the beach.
