First visit to this mile. Met Sue who has observed mile 254 for many years and walked with her as she gave us much useful information.Very pleasant, sunny day on beach. Saw 3 beachcombers, two women with two small children enjoying running into the water, and one surf casting fisherman. Relatively small amount of man-made debris on shore, a few glass and plastic bottles, some Styrofoam (two deteriorated fishing floats about 20 inches long,the rest small pieces). Very few birds seen along water line, no dead birds.No baseline to tell if there have been any changes man-made or natural.

Temperature: 55 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: SW. Tide Level: 6.0 feet.

Again, no evidence of tar washing ashore. Some dead Velella velella skeletons trapped in driftwood.

Severe dune erosion causing many large shrubs and trees to fall onto the beach. Previous report in February showed dune cliff stable but receding.

Apparent crab exuvia - lots of Dungeness crab shells along the high-tide line and in the shallow mini-lagoons formed at low tide.

Juvenile bald eagle flew northbound just before the sighting of the gull.
