Report Details

Beach walk - not much has changed on the dune line since summer/fall. Dead juvenile sea lion up by the dune line with a discarded storage bin lid nearby. Larger sand accumulation on the north end of the mile. Pooling forming on the south end of the mile at the water line.

Conditions

Temperature: 52 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 1 feet.

Activities

Number of people: 9. Number of dogs: 4.

Other Activities: One dog was playing fetch with a ball. Other dogs were just walking with their humans.. 2 people were exploring the tide line and the pool of water forming as the tide receded..

Stranded Marine Mammals

Total stranded mammals: 1. juvenile sea lion - called it in to the Oregon Marine Mammal Stranding hotline and Gregory went to inspect. He informed me he believes the juvenile sea lion had been a victim of a shark attack. Corpse had been dead for several days.

Severe dune erosion causing many large shrubs and trees to fall onto the beach. Previous report in February showed dune cliff stable but receding.
