Lots of human activity and evidence of campfires and "building" with driftwood. Large number of dead murrelets.

Number of people: 76. Number of dogs: 9. Walking or running: 71. Sitting: 5. Other Activities: 2 kite flyers; 11 swimmers; 2 using metal detectors; 1 doing yoga; 4 sunbathing. Lots of people, less cars - lots of beach house rental activity. Not much litter but very high tide and sand covered. Lots of campfire evidence.

Bull kelp, feather boa kelp, few mussels, crab fragments and snail egg casings; High wave action, yellow sea foam; Unknown find - what looks like a larvae or pupa? perhaps just a seed of some marine plant? large concentration in wrack line - see pics to help with identification.

After king tides and heavy surf, most of the usual driftwood was up nearer the bank along with minimal bull kelp.

The beach mile varied quite a bit - with the south (less traveled) section with darkened sands and clear of most debris while the north end, with more visitors, was covered in stones with more small debris (esp.

Just wanted to say there have been a lot of brown pelicans this season, more than I've ever seen, and I'm wondering if they will stay for the winter?
