Very warm day for Mile 243, 81 degrees air. Piles of empty mussel shells were puzzling (see photo)Otherwise, beaches were clean and litter free.One vehicle stuck in loose sand in permitted area was being towed out by a Good Samaritan. Sadly, my favorite large drift wood seemed to have been reduced to charred remains.

My favorite large driftwood seems to have been reduced to piles of charred wood. Guess it's the season for beach fires in Lincoln City. Wish they'd confine them to Taft beach. Otherwise, beaches were clean of most litter after Labor Day weekend.

It has been a very hard year for Lion's Mane jellies with large numbers of whole or almost whole jellies and pieces, large and small at the tide line. Enjoyed meeting a praying mantis and, hopefully assisting in its recovery from the tide.
