Mile 241 Report
Nelscott north, Lincoln City south
July 12, 2026
Beautiful sunny day with only a few clouds in the sky.
Report Details
Beautiful sunny day with only a few clouds in the sky. A wonderful day to walk the beach or enjoy beach activities with family. About 100 people were on the beach with only a handful of dogs (some on leash and others off leash with good recall). Not much trash was found on the beach, but there were about 5-8 manmade driftwood forts- which is pretty common for this stretch of beach.
Conditions
Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 4.0 feet.
Activities
Types of Activities: Sitting, Walking/Running, Surfing, Other - see below.
Number of people: 92. Number of dogs: 6.
Other Activities: Flying kites, playing in the sand (making sandcastles), playing catch, sunbathing. One person was walking along the shoreline and was feeding some birds (looked like ravens) peanuts. A different person was hanging out near a driftwood fort that has some blankets/ tarps on top and looked like a temporary shelter. This was at about the halfway point between Nelscott beach entrance and Canyon Drive entrance..
Notable Wildlife
Some seabirds flying about and a few ravens following a walker who was feeding them peanuts
Wrackline Content
Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings or molts, Wood pieces, Marine debris.
Man-made Modifications
Other. There are often a handful of manmade driftwood forts to this beach mile. I noticed 5-8 on this visit. The most concerning one was around the halfway point, but slightly closer to the Canyon Drive Park side. This driftwood fort had some blankets/ tarps and looked more like a temporary shelter. There was a person who was initially seated on a stump that went to the shelter as we walked near.
Natural Changes
Photos to show the bluffs along the beach mile. No significant changes since last visit
