Mile 239 Report

June 17, 2014
A beautiful Tuesday afternoon and not a soul on the beach!
Report Details
A beautiful Tuesday afternoon and not a soul on the beach! Almost all the Japanese tsunami debris reported on May 11 is now gone, except for a few stretches where there is a proliferation of tiny plastic pieces along the wrack line. Don't know if there has been a cleanup or if it's due to tidal action. Spotted 10 turkey vultures standing in the sand (very unusual) and went to investigate - turned out to be a seal pup carcass.

Not a bad fall day for a walk with our out-of-town visitors, but walking the beach was impossible due to the high tide and big waves, which were reaching the beach grass area and bouncing large pieces of driftwood around.
